I'm really glad with how they turned out. So I'm technically done all my print projects for the semester, so maybe I can get some time before the semester ends to whip up some fun prints!

So I'm back again. I've been keeping busy all winter printing, drawing, and enjoying the lovely fresh weather here in toronto. I can't wait till spring :) I've also been interning weekly for local artist Nicholas Di Genova at his studio which so far has been such a great experience. I've been learning lots of business know-how and helping out and about. You can see his blog here and heres a shot of a part of the studio, I'll get more pics soon.

Like I said before I've also been busy printing in my fabulous screen printing class. Here are 2 prints I did recently. The first was done entirely with stencil and screen filler and the second was a photo emulsion print. Actually the second one isn't for class, I actually designed it with someone special in mind (its kind of an inside joke), butI really like how the prints turned out and I've gotten some great feedback for both prints. Both were printed on both White and Grey stonehenge paper. If anyone is interested in one let me know. :)

I think I might do a 'Handsome Shark' series of portraits. Who knows. I just really liked drawing this bad boy. I've also been working on a portfolio site for my work, which I should get up and running by mid April. I'm excited about my own website for sure!! Can't wait. Till then I shall listen to some blur and the beta band and get excited about spring and bike riding weather!

so for my last project for nano publishing I decided to make a catalogue of all the music I've listened to since I was 8. It was so much fun and I ended up making trading card that turned into jacob's ladders! TOO MUCH FUN. all of them were contained in little boxes that had the above print of "Make Us Proud Kid" on em. They turned out great and I had a lot of great feedback. These were also for sale at 69 Vintage and the Small Press Book Fair this past weekend. I'll post pictures of the real thing soon, but till then, here's a sample of what to expect.

Its been too long! Here's one of my final projects that I forgot to post right at the end of school. But its over now and heres to summer fun and art! For this project I had to find an issue to push in a street art inspired manner. I wanted to encourage sharing and connections between strangers in a city like toronto. So I made 4 mix cds, each with a specific theme, or emotion i wanted to share and transmit with whoever picked it up. One to relax to, one to rock out to, one to feel happy to, and one to love to. I designed and hand made the cd sleeves and went around town and distributed them anonymously, leaving some in bike baskets, in coffee shops and food courts. I got to catch a glimpse of some of the recipients, and all i have to say is that it made my to day to just see them smile. Success!

Here are some spots for a travel mag. The first is about the Museum of Broken Relationships. The second is about a town in Sweden that is being moved due to its foundations being on top of a mine thats predicted to collapse. The third is about a Zero-Waste town in Japan who divide their waste into 34 fricken categories! Also, TONED DOWN PALETTE! God thats weird. I miss bright shiny colours. :(

HI! So last night was the opening reception of The Villain Show. And it was grand! Thanks to all those who came out to support! It was so much fun and I'm super pleased that it turned out so well. Everything looked pretty profesh and there were tasty treats, yum! For those who didn't get a chance to come out last night there's still a chance to go as everything is up until November 27th. Be sure to check it out if you can, there's some really great work up and I'm so happy I got to be a part of it.Anyways, thought I would post scans of the paintings I put up for the show. First of all, my theme was Modern Day Villains. I chose to juxtapose the recognizable heads of famous individuals representing different social worlds, with the bodies of animals representing the "villain's" flaw. The first is Mr. Kanye West. I think I made him look super cool. He is the music vulture, swooping down on others winnings as he always does (*cough* VMA Taylor Swift *cough*).

Mrs. Sarah Palin appears as a lovely purple polar bear, I know, non existent, but I needed to spice things up. She is the huntress, killing off polar bears when they're already vulnerable and soon to be endangered what with global warming. So she's not helping the environment one bit by hunting them. Great job Sarah Palin, and welcome to the world of Villainy.
Ronny McD! Yah thats you! He's magnificently creepy and the face of one of the biggest corporate and consumerist villains out there, McDonald's! Yay! Did you know that the world recognized golden arches will soon be invading the majestic Louvre? Anyone up for a juicy Double Da Vinci burger with a side of frites or a Francis Bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich? What is happening to the world?!!!!

Mel Gibson is the shark amongst, well, more sharks. Haha. I originally chose him because of his crazy anti-semitism ramblings back when he got that DUI, but I couldn't think of an animal that represented anti-semitism! I tried my darnedest and settled for the shark, the intense and insane predator of the sea! Just like Hollywood, but a little more wet.
Lastly is the dashing Tom Cruise. Known for his Scientologist antics and running around jumping on peoples couches. Claims say he thinks that Scientology is a "cure" for homosexuality! Cruise you're nuts! And everyone knows it. He's crazy, and homophobic. He should just deal with reality, and accept what he is.

hullo! its been a little while, but back with this lovely lovely project for media that i was absolutely thrilled about. We were asked to provide an illustrated cover for one of our favourite films, like the Criterion Collection is known for. I chose 2001: A Space Odyssey! SPACEY MUCH? I know! I can't help myself! It just makes me happy. My idea actually came from a dream, after watching the movie. I really wanted to emphasize the scope of size in the movie. You see everything from far off, which is what my main idea was, et voila!

Cordillera del Centro

To get to and from Flandes I was lucky enough to drive through the magnificently beautiful Andes! The Andes are a famous mountain range that lie on the Western coast of South America. It passes through Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela and of course Colombia. We went through the center range of the Andes. It was so stunning. Every second was breathtaking, looking in the distance and thinking that they went on forever. The roads along it are hilariously dangerous due to a vast amount of curves. It gave me such a rush! The only thing is that the altitude is insane. It totally kills your ears, but a small price to pay for the experience.

But alas, I am now back in good old Bogota. More tales to come.

Tierra Caliente.... a little sunshine

My weekend was spent in Flandes which is a darling small town 3 hours south of Bogota. I got burnt and swam forever. I ate for the first time what is called 'Lechona' which is basically BBQ pig which they adorn with rocking shades and an apple in the mouth to boot. I've also eaten 'Morcilla' or 'Rellena' which is blood sausauge. SO DELICIOUS. Never thought I'd say that.The culture here is definitely different to that of the North. I love it too much. Everything is twice as delicious and wonderful. One of the things that I've noticed and have to mention is that everyone here has a motorcycle or moped. Its crazy! Driving here is insane. There's hardly lane divisions and everyone drives like a maniac with families of 10 in each tiny car. Its amazing!!

Sup kids! So here I am, in Colombia. Woken up to a fresh lovely day. God its so bloody fascinatingly awesome. Yah had to use 3 adjectives there just to describe the glory. Anyways, I was thinking of updating this here blog every once in a while with tales of my adventures in this great land. I'm not much of a writer, as you may have already noticed, but I can take some decent photos, so I'll use that to my advantage. So expect photos and blurbs every now and then. OK so this is what I've been working on all day for media class. Its a collage and the subject was Crime Scene Investigations. Two of my favourite things! I won't go into too much, but all I can say is that I LOVED this assignment, feverishly.

In other news, some of my pieces will be shown in this year's Metro Home Show at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from April 10-12 as part of an entertainment room design for one the Sony Spaces. I just recently found out and I'm so excited! Its kind of like my first show. Never thought it would be in a home show, but its going to be great! Thats my big news and I'm jumping off the wall!!

Hello dears,

Happy Sunday! It's just such a lovely day I can't help but smile! I've been a busy bee today, drawing, painting, getting those creative juices flowing! Been listening to Caribou, The Chemical Brothers and Junior Boys. Loving the new Junior Boys album "Begone Dull Care", highly recommend it for those who love them some rad 80's throwback electronic synth-pop.

Here's a piece I made for media class 2 weeks ago. The subject was 'recurring dreams' and was done in pastels. I stuck with the simplest one I've ever had. A FLYING DREAM! My favourite! Honestly who doesn't love a flying dream? Especially when everything is creamy cotton, colours like candy and when the hills have eyes! Enjoy!

Ruff em up old school style

Sup errbody. Ok so yesterday was a challenging day to say the least. I had to do an illustration/poster for VDAY for concept class. I came up with a bunch of different versions of the same concept. The first one here is the one I ended up handing in to my teacher. He didn't much like it, so I ended up showing him all the other versions I had made for the same project. In the end, he liked another version I had more than the one I handed in.
The second image is the one he liked with some adjustments I've made since class. I have to say, its been awhile since I've made a collage (digital). The last one was my fetish one from last semester. I had too much fun with that one and I knew I would someday go back and make another one. To clear things up, I actually drew and coloured the fruit by hand, they are not photos (lots of people think they are haha). And I used images cut out from newspapers and magazines and a lovely old catalogue of knit wear from the 50s (which has become my new best friend). I love the end products and some of them are just neat. I'm thinking of making actual prints of these fruit headed people, too much fun, maybe even a series!!! Oh gosh how I love making things!

I researched a bit about this card and it's insane how much power a black piece of plastic can give! Apparently, to be an official obtainer of said card one needs to spend at least 250, 000 a year! Well well how nice.

It seems I've finally gotten down to making one of these magical do hickeys called blogs.

I admit I feel a little fancy from it all.

Went to the Opera for the first time ever the other day. Sounds all chic, and I guess it is, but it was not what I expected. It turned out to be pretty neat and I had a rad old time and believe it or not it totally got my creative juices flowing. It is actually the reason why I finally started this thing. It was a nice old time.
